Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried herbs oregano, basil, or thyme
  • Parmesan cheese optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Dissolve sugar in warm water and sprinkle yeast over it. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and twist each strip.
  • Place twisted strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
