Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
  • Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk.
  • Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times.
  • Pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits with a round cutter.
  • Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
