Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and over the top of the cake. Enjoy!
