Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional for thickening
  • Fresh herbs for garnish
  • Vegetables and mashed potatoes for serving

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until well combined, then shape into four patties.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  • Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  • Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Mix cornstarch with a bit of water and add to the broth to thicken if desired.
  • Return the patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for about 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
