In a separate bowl, combine baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and whole wheat flour.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
If using, fold in the nuts for added crunch.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
