Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional: nuts or dried fruits

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add salt and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  • Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
