Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Add the cranberries to the boiling mixture.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally, allowing the cranberries to burst.
  • Add orange zest, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
  • Continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate until ready to serve.
