Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Fillings fruit preserves, cream cheese, poppy seed, etc.

Instructions

  • Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add softened butter, mixing until crumbly.
  • Stir in yeast mixture and eggs until a dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out dough to ½ inch thickness and cut into squares.
  • Place filling in the center of each square and fold corners to the center.
  • Let rise for another 30 minutes before baking.
