Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring optional
  • Buttercream frosting or ganache for filling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar into a bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy.
  • Gradually add granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold in the almond flour mixture gently.
  • Add vanilla extract and food coloring, if desired.
  • Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  • Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Tap the baking sheet on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  • Let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes before baking.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, then let cool completely.
  • Assemble with your choice of filling.
