Peel the sweet potatoes.
Cut the sweet potatoes into even-sized chunks.
Place the sweet potato chunks in a large pot and cover with water.
Add a pinch of salt to the water.
Bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat and let simmer for about 20 minutes, or until tender.
Drain the sweet potatoes in a colander.
Return the sweet potatoes to the pot and mash using a potato masher.
Gradually add milk and butter, mixing until smooth and creamy.
Season with salt, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg to taste.
