Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet 2¼ teaspoons yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add yeast mixture to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) with a baking stone or tray inside.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it into a circle about ¼ inch thick.
  • Place the flattened dough onto the hot stone or tray.
  • Bake for 5-7 minutes or until pitas puff up and gain a slight golden color.
