Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter chilled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add the chilled butter cubes and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, combine cold water and lemon juice.
  • Gradually add the water mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until combined.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  • Fold the dough into thirds, like a letter, and refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
  • Repeat the rolling and folding process 2-3 times to create layers.
  • Once done, roll out the dough to your desired thickness and shape for your recipe.
