Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Wash the zucchini thoroughly under cold water.
Slice the zucchini in half lengthwise.
Place the zucchini halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
Drizzle olive oil over the zucchini.
Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning evenly.
Use a brush to spread the oil and seasonings evenly.
If desired, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of the zucchini.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until tender and lightly browned.
Garnish with fresh basil and cherry tomatoes before serving.
