Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon milk optional, for brushing

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  • After rising, punch down the dough to release air.
  • Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
