Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce tomato, and onion for toppings
  • Pickles optional
  • Condiments ketchup, mustard, mayo

Instructions

  • Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
  • Shape each portion into a loose ball without overworking the meat.
  • Season the meat balls with salt and pepper.
  • Place the meat ball on the hot skillet and smash it down with a spatula.
  • Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
  • Flip the patty and add a slice of cheese on top.
  • Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Toast the burger buns on the skillet until golden.
