Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar for rolling
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  • Roll the dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  • Place the dough balls on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
